I was called to co-facilitate a Self-Care Ceremonial Workshop in the Sacred Passage Doula Certificate program /Ottawa with The Consicous Dying Institute (https://www.consciousdyinginstitute.com/events/july-2019-ottawa-on-sacred-passage-end-of-life-doula-certificate). The workshop focus is to Restore Death To Its Sacred Place in the Beauty, Mystery, And Celebration Life; Creating A Caring Healing Culture of End of Life Doulas Who Contribute To The Evolution Of Human Consciousness.
We opened the ceremonial meditation with chanting OM with the Crystal Quarts Singing Bowls followed by singing a call and response of the Gayatri Mantra. I accompanied my colleague (Stephanie Corrin) with voice, guitar, native flute and crystal quartz singing bowls.
I was honoured to be present and provide musical accompaniment while witnessing 25 participants who were journeying through their personal grieving process. The native flute song invited them into the ceremonial space and provided a peaceful element to the healing atmosphere. I continued to open the space with the crystal singing bowls with the intention of providing a space for contemplation and reflection of one's deepest truths and for achieving at-onement within the group. The participants honoured themselves through exercising self-worth, trust and respect which carried them through a 3 hour grieving session where they felt safe to express and release all internalized grievances in the circle. The participants emotional freedom to grieve enriched my ability to capture and express their healing journey through my music- it was a beautiful gift for me to have the opportunity to embrace the grief journey through my personal musical interpretation. I worked musically and emotionally with sound with native flute, guitar and crystal bowl's resonance of consonance and dissonance. The session ended with a closing sound bathing experience where all circle participants relaxed into a 25 minute singing bowl sound meditation and a native flute song to complete the journey.
I am very grateful to have witnessed the beauty of the grieving process and honoured to have been a part of this healing journey.

'Originally, Utz and Crystal Tones cofounder William “Lupito” Jones only made the Crystal Singing Bowls from pure quartz (heating natural quartz up to 4,000 degrees Fahrenheit, its melting point, and pouring it into a graphite mold where it cools and hardens). “Quartz is a vibrational transmitter,” Wilson says. “It is used as a transmitter in almost all of our technologies. It carries the vibrational consciousness of the metal or the mineral or the crystal into our cellular knowing. We’re water. We are a perfect receptor for this kind of information.” Consider how running your finger around the edge of a crystal glass full of water makes it ring and the water itself shift. Because we are about 65–70% water, we react to the sound of the crystal bowls similarly, as their vibration penetrates into us.
