Bereavement Education

in the home and in the workplace

Education and Awareness:

Educating communities about the grieving process and helping to normalise conversations around death and loss. This awareness can lead to more supportive environments where individuals feel comfortable discussing their experiences.

 Community Integration:

By fostering connections within the community, somatic grief work can help reduce feelings of isolation often experienced by those grieving. Laurie connects individuals with support groups, workshops, or community events that promote healing and social interaction.

Bereavement Education for Support Networks

Creating a caring, empathetic, and non-judgemental space where people can safely express their emotions. This educational component is vital for parents, educators, and community professionals, equipping them with the tools to support bereaved youth effectively. Whether you’re a parent seeking companionship or an educator looking for resources to assist grieving students, Laurie’s expertise is available to guide you through these challenging conversations.

Collaboration with Healthcare Providers:

Integrating bereavement support into healthcare settings can enhance the overall care experience for patients and families dealing with terminal illness or loss. Collaborating with medical professionals ensures that emotional health is prioritised alongside physical health care.

Grief is a normal and natural response to loss. It is originally an unlearned feeling process.

Keeping grief inside increases your pain.

- Anne Grant

Adults require assistance in helping young people embrace the complex emotions associated with grieving a loss of a significant loved one.  Given bereavement is such a common experience for young people, as professionals, it is helpful to be aware of how we can support bereft youth. The intention of the adult is to provide a caring, empathic, non-judgemental and safe space for youth to embody, embrace and outwardly express their grief emotions confidently.
